An Enjoyable Meal

Yesterday evening we went for a delicious meal at Cockhaven Manor , Bishopsteignton.  It was a very enjoyable evening with a real buzz of conversation which stopped only when the food arrived!  The service was excellent and we were well looked after.  The desserts especially were very good!

A Fabulous Collection

At Craft Club this afternoon we were treated to an Exhibition of Angela Parkes' work - All Kinds of Sewing. There were patchwork quilts and jackets, all sorts of bags, stuffed toys, embroidery and cushions.  The range and variety of skills on display was absolutely amazing!

Fifteen people attended and we were all enthralled with Angela's creativity and skill.  As you can see from the pictures below, her work is exquisite.

Thank you Angela for sharing your pieces with us - it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and we all left inspired.

Behind the Scenes at the Cenotaph Parade

On Tuesday at our monthly meeting we enjoyed a very interesting talk by Stewart Leach MBE about what happens behind the scenes at the Cenotaph Parade.  Stewart told us a bit about the background and history of this day.  He then talked us through the organisation required to make the parade run smoothly.  It was fascinating and really opened our eyes to just what goes on behind the scenes to make the day so effective.

After the talk, Stewart judged the competition entries - the brief was a handmade bookmark with a poppy theme.  There was as always a high standard as seen below.  Well done to our talented members!
