Tinsel and Sparkle, Poems and Carols

December Christmas Party 🎉

The party on Tuesday 13th December was well attended and great fun. There was lots going on, with food aplenty! There were amusing placemats, pass the parcel, Christmas crackers and a lovely lady playing a keyboard to which we had a fun singalong. The Christmas card competition was very difficult to judge as the standard was so high, the winner was Barbera Whitear. Maureen Hunter had written a fabulous poem about the WI Christmas party, which she read out and had everybody laughing. And Norma did her annual singalong to the twelve days of Christmas, which everyone enjoyed very much. All in all a fun night and a fabulous end to a very successful 50th Anniversary Year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our members and friends x

November Meeting

Despite the miserable weather lots of members came to the November meeting. Julie Walton was acting President as Pam was on holiday. The speaker was Robert Hesketh who told us stories about haunted Inns in Devon. It was a thoroughly enjoyable talk. For this meeting we set out the room with tables and this seemed more sociable and was popular with most of the members. The competition this month was a creepy cupcake and there were only two entrants, the winner was Marion Wyatt with Janet Williams runner up, Robert Hesketh kindly judged the competition for us. The photos were taken by Pat Rowley. Pictured are Janet Williams, Robert Hesketh and Marion Wyatt. (Left to Right) Also the winnng cake.

Harvest Supper and 50th Birthday

What a lovely evening our Harvest supper was this year. As it was Teignmouth WIs 50th Birthday celebration too, the members were invited to dress in their 1960's clothing. Many of our members dressed up and they looked absolutely fabulous! Please brows the photos below. The food was delicious thanks to a very hard working catering team, the members enjoyed hand carved ham, quiche, salads and potatos, with fruit crumbles and ice cream for dessert. There were gales of laughter as the members enjoyed a game of tiddlywinks on each of the tables and there was also a quiz, Maureen Hunter did a history of the Teignmouth WI. The competition was a vegetable print animal and was won by Barbara Whitear. Music from the 1960s was played in the background, and there was a beautiful birthday cake which was ceremoniously cut by Teignmouth longest standing members, Rosemary Tettmar and  Pat Stone.

fun evening was had by all.

Looking Good Feeling Great

On Wednesday night we enjoyed a really interesting and even inspirational talk from Lizzie Fox, image consultant and personal stylist on how to look good and consequently to feel great.

Lizzie took us through the different skin/colour types and linked these to the colours that really look good on you.  She had some volunteers to represent each type and this demonstration of which colours make you look your best and which don't was very interesting.

Lizzie also touched on body shape and how to work with the shape you are. She gave us practical hints and advice.

Lizzie also did a make up demonstration on one of our ladies, showing us how to use gentle colours on lighter skin tones, I think we all learned something.

It was also a fun evening with lots of laughs.   Lizzie was able to put across her message which is

“We are who we are – so let’s make the very best of ourselves"

Lizzie Fox looks fabulous herself-
