Bead Making at the Craft Club

On Thursday afternoon the ladies from the craft club enjoyed a workshop from Shirley, on bead making. Shirley provided lots of equipment and beautiful paper for us all to have a go. I can honestly say, the two hours flew by, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it, the craft club ladies all managed to go home with beads to make some jewellery with. We all enjoyed a cup of tea and lovely cakes provided by Maureen and Norma. Many thanks to Shirley for a fun and enjoyable class. Thanks to Pat for taking photographs.

Introducing myself

Hello ladies,
I just wanted to say hello and to let you know that I will be taking over the blog from Sue. I've been a member of Teignmouth for a few months now and I recently joined the committee. I live in Bishopsteignton with my partner Mick. Here is a picture of me, so please say hello and if you have any ideas for the blog or for the next meeting, please let me know.

LADIES WHO LUNCH - THE MUNCH BUNCH!

We enjoyed a really nice lunch today at the Smugglers Arms - the food was good, the company even better!

It was great to have a good catch-up after our Christmas break.

February's Competition

Our speaker at the February monthly meeting is Jenny Paton from Paignton Zoo.

Our monthly competition is to create a knitted animal like the cute little elephant above - why don't you have a go?

An Excellent Start to the Year

We had a very busy and exciting start to 2016 at our meeting last night.  Many members returned and there were lots of visitors.  Thanks to Barbara who baked a cupcake for every member in celebration of her birthday - they were much appreciated.

 The second photo is of Commander David Vaughan, OBE, the Harbour Commissioner who is judging the competition photo on a sea theme.  He gave a very interesting talk on the port of Teignmouth and there were lots of questions.

The winner of the competition was Shirley and this is her excellent picture.

Come Along to our January 2016 meeting

Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday 12th January 2016 at 7.30pm at the New Road Community Centre and will be a talk by Commander David Vaughan - Harbour Lights - The Port of Teignmouth

Don't forget the monthly Competition: A photograph of the sea and we have had lots of wild seas over the past weeks to inspire you!

Finally, this meeting is the opportunity to renew your WI Membership or to enrol for the first time.  The annual subscription is £37.50 which includes our monthly meetings, the Devon WI magazine and the WI Life magazine.
