BRIGHT SPARKS

Our new term is now well underway with lots more planned to take us to Easter. This week we all tried origami - some with more success than others! The next session will be on Thursday 8th February when Julie will be showing us the basics of Facebook and how to access the MyWI site. Those with laptops and iPads are welcome to bring them along, there will also be knitting and nattering for others so do please join us from 2.00 - 4.00 p.m.

Painting on glass~ Bright Sparks!

Our Thursday group Bright Sparks had a go at painting on glass, there were 11 of us and it was really enjoyable and productive. Everyone has created something individual
to take home and keep. Thanks to Mary , she is a very patient teacher.

One hour of volunteering-litter pick

Our response to the Mayor’s challenge for residents to give one hour of their time to the community. Before we started, and after we had finished picking up litter in a small area of the town. Fifteen black sacks of litter and bottles!!

Munch Bunch October

Lunch at the Cockhaven Manor was lovely. Just seven of us, but
nice to be able to chat to all.

WE'RE DOING OUR BIT TO KEEP TEIGNMOUTH TIDY!

A massive thank you to all our members - and four husbands - who joined the Mayor and his wife, Paul and Nicky Burgess, this morning to collect over a dozen bags of litter from around the railway station area. Photo to follow hopefully.

TEIGNSIDE GROUP MEETING

At the recent Group Meeting we came a very close second to the hosts, Shaldon and Ringmore WI. Well done to Doreen Rogers for her harvest loaf, Pam Webb for her photograph, and Angela Parkes for the fun knitted hat which all scored highly in the competition.

HARVEST SUPPER

The Harvest Supper was enjoyed by over 50 members on Tuesday - well done Dee and her catering team!

Bright Sparks Felt Workshop

Here are a few photos of the Bright Sparks Felt Workshop hosted by Mary. It was well attended and everyone enjoyed it very much.

Bright Sparks

Our Bright Sparks group were treated to Mocktails on Thursday afternoon by the ladies from one small step.    They popped along to talk to us about our health and well-being, and to offer help and support if any were needed. The talk was interesting and we learned about how much sugar was in our food and all about how much alcohol was recommended in a week, also what a unit of alcohol looked like. We were able to see how healthy our lungs are and how much fat is in our body’s, even though we may look slim. It was very informative but also fun and we all enjoyed it. Here are just a couple of pictures from the afternoon.

LITTER PICK ON SUNDAY

The Mayor of Teignmouth, Paul Burgess, was a guest at our Cream Tea in August and asked us all to give an hour of our time to help the community in some way. We have arranged to spend an hour picking up litter around the town on Sunday 15th October. Please meet at 10.00 a.m. in the railway station car park. All equipment will be supplied. This is our chance to Keep Teignmouth Tidy!
